Summary: Not so great
Comment: From reading the other reviews, I thought this would be the camera to buy for my 8-year-old son, who loves playing with and dropping our $80 Canon. It's a bit of a disappointment for us, though. The screen on the back (a bonus, as they're not always found on kids' cameras) makes all pictures look like snowcapped mountains, for one; also, unless the lighting is exactly and precisely right, they don't look so hot in final form, either. My son is really thrilled about the fact that he can strap the camera to a tree with the provided belt, but that's not reason enough to make me happy about this purchase.
I'll add that if this camera were a kids' first exposure to digital cameras, it might be just fine and perfect. But considering that our son had figured out our Canon before we can, this was a let down.

Summary: Best option
Comment: I have bought this camera under the National Geographic trademark but it is exactly the same. I compared all the other kid cameras and found this one to have the best value for the money. I was surprised to see that Fisher Price and VTech as well as Crayola are selling Digital Cameras for little kids for $40-70 with little storage, little resolution - while you can pick up a cheap small camera for next to nothing.
My daughter has developmental delays so a camera that has a good grip was important. This one does fine - would have loved the Fisher Price shape though. As for the possibilities: You can do everything with this camera that you can do with an adult camera. At 1.3 pixels the quality is good, time lapse and night vision function helped us figure out that our dog is climbing on our newly purchased couch after we have gone to bed. Everything is simple , yet functional. I got this camera at a supersale and therefore got a really good deal. I would definately recommend if you can get it at a deal - that's the only bad thing: The price.

Summary: Good camera for little hands
Comment: I bought this for my 6 year old and she loves it. The pictures are ok but better than most children cams. My daughter especially likes that she can take time lapse pictures and night vision pictures too. It's fun and very durable.
