The embossing process gives depth and detail to each block and appears to be carved. Actually these designs are pressed into the wood under immense pressure. We are proud of our embossing capability and produce a wide range of embossed letters, numbers and images. Beveled Edges We chamfer the upright edges of our blocks to eliminate sharp corners and make the blocks more comfortable to hold. Classic Styling Our designs are based on the classic ABC blocks made by the Embossing Company of Albany NY, whose founders, the Hyatt brothers, patented the invention of the embossed ABC block. Our ABC blocks pay homage to the first set of American alphabet blocks made by the Hyatt brothers (who also invented celluloid which led to the explosion of plastics). Non-Toxic Inks Our toys are made from child-safe materials, especially non-toxic inks. Our toys are tested regularly and always surpass national and international standards on ink safety. Of course there is very little ink on our blocks, so rest assured that a child will not be exposed to harmful substances even if they should consume an entire set of blocks. Comment: These ABC blocks by Uncle Goose are the best made blocks you will find anywhere. And the wooden wagon has a very high quality. Made from Michigan wood in the USA, and 100% safe paints. I looked everywhere to find blocks for my 15 month old. Most are for 3 and up because they are too small the paint comes off too easily. Not these blocks! These are 1.75 inches each and have 100% safe paint for 2 year-olds and up- As recommended by the manufacturer Uncle Goose. My 15-month-old chews on everything and she was not able to bite the paint off of these blocks, like she was easily able to with most other blocks on the market that I returned! The animal carvings on the blocks are really nice. They have numbers 0 - 9, 4 complete alphabet sets, and 27 animals ranging from an elephant to a butterfly. My child loves playing with these and stacking them up then knocking them down. You can't go wrong with this classic toy. It is excellently made and very fun! A must have for all children ages 1 and up. And the wagon is very nice, or get the blocks in the canvas bag for (...)less.

Comment: This toy is really two in one. Not only do you get the great blocks to build and learn with, but also the classic wooden wagon. My child loves to put other toys in it and pull them along with the sturdy blocks. This toy has been hours of entertainment.

Comment: I think I wanted these blocks more for myself than my daughter. They're the kind you always wanted as a kid, but never got (am I giving too much away here?). Anyway, my daughter loves to build and play with them. I love the way they look and feel: clean, light, colorful, non-toxic, and there's lots of them. And, you get the wagon, which is great for others things, including storage.
