Summary: Good product, which like all cloud stuff struggles
Comment: I have used .Mac for about a year, and now that it has transitioned to MobileMe, I have to say that I think that it is a bit better. When I got my iphone, the phone immediately picked up over 400 contacts, calendar info etc. And that was as I was leaving the Apple store. There have been problems. Apple bit off more than they could chew, I believe, but they gave users, 3 months of access. Apple tries, it seems to me, to take care of their customers. That is more than I can say for much of the IT industry. I have had little problem with MobileMe except for the startup, when it went down. I have since upgraded and hope that it gets better. Apple seems to work hard to make their products fulfill what they have promised.

For me, email, calendar, photos (from iphoto and iphone), backup (which is slow, because, primarily of my net speed), and contacts, all work great. That, tied together with a great program like Omnifocus, and things are good. I have to give them a solid review, because, while they did choke a bit, they seem to be moving along quite nicely now.

Summary: My Experience
Comment: I've been a user of .Mac ever since it was called iTools and was free. When the transition to Mobile Me occurred, I experienced some mail outages, but my iDisk, which hosts a few web sites, never failed. After letting things settle down for a few weeks, I spent some time weeding through the contacts on both my Macs, synched them, and then set them to automatic synching. Now any time I add, delete, or change a contact, a bookmark, or a calendar on either machine, the change is quickly reflected on the other. For the first time it's practical for me to have the same information on both machines and not have to think about it.

Apple certainly had a difficult time rolling our MobileMe, but at this point it's working all right for me and is pretty cool.

Except it was stupid for Apple to cancel iCards.

Summary: OUCH!
Comment: I have been a .Mac member since 2001 and an Apple loyalist since 1988. MobileMe is one of the worst releases of software in Apple's history. This is up there with Apple's old operating system version 6.0.6, on 10/05/90, where someone forgot to include AppleShare in the final build! (Apple corrected the problem the next day with a release of 6.0.6) I wish Apple was as responsive to their blunders as they have been in the past. My advise... wait if you can. If you can't wait, BACKUP YOUR DATA before using!

Summary: Rough start, but works well for me
Comment: Everyone is aware of the rough start MobileMe had. I however, only experienced a couple days of inaccessibility. Since then it has worked flawlessly for me. I was an original .mac subscriber and while certain features (i.e. icards which was lame) have disappeared, some most certainly work better. The iDisk was non functional for me with .mac and now finally works! I really enjoy the online access to my calender now too. All in all, I'm not disappointed. Apple has also compensated users with an initial 30 day extension, and now just announced another 60 day extension. I'm satisfied.

Summary: MobileMe - Windows version
Comment: It wasn't ready for prime time -- but now, after a couple of weeks, it sort of works. I still have faith this will be a great product, real soon now.

Useful: Desktop Publishing Software

Desktop Publishing software provides three primary benefits:
  • Saves you money - Although the cost of some desktop publishing software is staggering, the programs can quickly pay for themselves in the money it will save you on business cards, labels, greeting cards, and letterhead.
  • Allows you to keep creative control - Many times there is a great deal lost between your vision and the designer's interpretation of that vision. However, these programs let you maintain complete control and give you the chance to develop exactly the type of image you want.
