This limited edition collectible U2 Deluxe Edition boxset is handsomely constructed in a sturdy hardbound shell, measuring 5 3/4" (width) x 2 3/4" (spine width) x 5 7/16" (tall) and comes with the newly remastered and expanded 2 CD deluxe editions of the bands first three albums BOY, OCTOBER and WAR, plus room for a fourth (not included). Re-mastered from the original audio tapes, each deluxe includes a disc of b-sides, live tracks and rarities, and the packaging on all three titles has been restored and expanded, with new liner notes for each record, previously unseen photos and full lyrics.
This set also comes with a limited edition, exclusive 18'x24' full color replica poster from the bands beginnings, recreated just for this boxset.

Comment: I bought this for my wife for her birthday and she really likes the set. Once we opened the package I noticed the bonus CD for the October album was not a bonus CD it was just a duplicate of the original. I was expecting more from this box set but my wife is the one that I have to make sure is satisified with the set.

Comment: The hardest part with a collection like this is that, if you're a long-time or ardent fan, you'll already own more than half these tracks. The unique packaging, new sleeve inserts and rare tracks help to make it more attractive. But it was the lure of buying this exclusive from Amazon for less than the cost of buying 2 individual deluxe CD's from my usual store that was the clincher.
I'm no audiophile but I have to say I think the remastered albums sound good and have an appealling clarity and depth to them.
In terms of the bonus discs my only gripe is with War and the lack of variety on it. I don't really want to listen to 4 consecutive remixes of New Year's Day and 3 of Two Hearts; one of each would have been enough.
The poster is an odd edition. Uncreased, it would have been worthy of framuing and putting on display. But after being folded and packed in the box, why would you bother?
In summary, this collection is only for the most dedicated fan or a good starting point if you don't own any U2 or are a late convert.

Comment: As a fan for over 20 years, tougt that I saw everything. But this masterpiece from the past, U2 made it better. Not recommended for general use, but as U2's fan I will recommend to all who adore U2 as much as I do.
