Summary: Not the best salt keeper out there- quality questionable
Comment: This salt keeper is rather large but that is not my issue. The tops would not line up when closed so it is always a little off and the top salt portion completely came off a bit too easily for me. I would recommend spending a few more dollars for a better quality salt keeper.

Summary: Bought 2 - 1 cracked
Comment: I loved the design of this salt cellar and bought two (thinking I would have one always near the stove and one for the dinner table). While I do still love the design (enough to come back to replace one), the inherant problems with wood in a kitchen is splitting due to the grain - 1 has split and 1 is perfect.

Weight is perfect for one-hand use and holds about 1/2 cup on bottom and less than 1/4 cup on top... perfect for iodized salt and kosher salt at hand. LOVE the magnet closure.

I love this design enough to give 4 out of 5 stars and repurchase, because I can't really fault the manufacturer for wood's tendency to split and I am in very-dry-Colorado.

Summary: Too heavy, too broken, too soon
Comment: I have bought the cellar based on the reviews and the reputation of Mario Batali.
First impression was that the cellar was too heavy with no real reason. Please be aware: the prop is huge in size, however the capacity is not. Probably there's a weight inside the bottom of the cellar, because there's a lot of space from the bottom of the salt chamber to the bottom of the cellar.
Then, two weeks after I received the prop, the sliding cover just got broken, without any forcing or droping the cellar.

I use only one type of salt, so the two compartments are of no real service to me.

Bottom line: a BIG Regret.

Now I have to buy another salt cellar. I hope to find one to really does its job: keep the salt dry, and keep itself in one piece.

I won't buy any other Batali's product, unless I have a really good reason for it, which I can't even imagine right now.

Summary: It's a winner!
Comment: This is a very nice salt cellar. The lid swings back and forth perfectly, and it's nice to have storage for two different kinds of salt. It's on the large side, but it's worth the space.

Summary: Looks and works beautifully
Comment: What a quality product. The size of vessels are excellent. Also it is weighty so it will sit still on counter while you open it with one hand, very important when cooking

Useful: Grill

Grilling is a pervasive tradition in the United States. There are many cook-offs for steak grilling and good 'ole fashion barbecue (mid-western and southern style) around the United States with serious cash prizes involved in most. Almost all competition grillers use charcoal, most often in large, custom designed brick or steel grills. They can range from a few 55 gallon oil drums sawed lengthwise on their sides to make a lid and grill base, to large, vehicle sized grills made of brick, weighing nearly a ton.
